Boating tip

Ever look silly stepping out of the boat at shorelunch? While at the All Canada show down here in Carmel, IN we were talking around the coffee pot. Remembering how many times we think we will be ok stepping onto that wet rock. LOL Another laugh was when your buddy is the first out of… Read more »

2009 Fall Newsletter

Hello Anglers & Hunters, Our 2009 season has come to an end at Woman River Camp.  Another year with great people enjoying their vacation with us and the great outdoors! Back to back years with some whacky weather.  We were shovelling 10 inches of snow out of boats opening day and it snowed June 16th… Read more »

Ice is here!

The recent cold front which has been hanging around for a week now has made some really good ice! We have 6 inches and counting. Now if we could get some snow and move away from the -28C we will be ice fishing! Lake Trout opens January 1st!

Moose Hunting

October is here!  September went out with a bang.  Great Walleye fishing and a pile of Northern Pike over 40 inches.  The Woman River lake chain never turned over yet so the lake trout didn’t come up shallow before the season closed.  But the rest of the fishing was amazing.  We are into our moose… Read more »

Winding Down

Kids are back in school and the leaves are slowly turning colour.  Hints that fall is approaching.  Our fishing season is winding down.  Bear hunting is over and small game just started today.  I better start cutting next years firewood. Too bad the fishing season is just about done.  We have had some great fishing… Read more »

Camp news

Well it is just about back to school time! I don’t think we even had a summer this year. Fishing has been pretty good though. Rain Rain Rain and more Rain

No worries about fire restrictions up here at Woman River Camp. We are presently sitting with the second highest water levels seen in my 20 years in the north. This morning, Medicine Rock was not visible on Little Woman Lake!!!!!! We have built yet another boardwalk this time to the dock. Water is roaring over… Read more »

Summer Fishing

I know I stated summer was here last posting but sometimes I wonder!  Cool weather and rain have been a good part of the forecast lately up here near Ear Falls.  We can’t compete with Mother Nature. Our prayers go out to those families who lost loved ones when the tornado tore through a fishing… Read more »

Summer is here

Well, we believe summer has arrived at Woman River Camp.  Late but here.  Warm weather, sunshine, showers and a nice Walleye chop! Smallmouth are hitting topwater, Walleye are eating nightcrawlers, and the monster Northern Pike have setup in their ambush spots on the lake.  The only thing missing to have the Walleye move to their… Read more »

Fishing Report

The weather may be cool but the fish are active!  Water temperatures are still in the low 50’s.  When warm water is found, so are the fish.  Lots of slot Walleyes and we are still catching some big Northern Pike.  The plainest of rigs for walleye with lindy rigs and slip bobbers leading the way. … Read more »

Travel Tip #1 – [Packing] Late ice out means cooler temperatures than we are use to. Wonder what to pack for cool Canadian weather? Remember to pack that extra pair of mittens and toque. We still have plenty of frost in the ground and the foot of snow we received May 15 has really kept… Read more »
